The start of the floorball season is getting closer. All leagues in the top four floorball countries, Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland, will start this week.

Czech Republic

The women’s league in Czech Republic (Extraliga Zeny) will start this Saturday with four matches.
17.9. 13:00 Bohemians (4*) v Chodov (1)
17.9. 14:30 Herbadent (1) v Liberec (8)
17.9. 16:00 Vitkovice (1) v Elite (5)
17.9. 18:00 Jicin (12) v Olomouk (10)

* = Last season’s results after regular season. Reigning champion Vitkovice, silver medalist Chodov and Herbadent all had 60 points after the regular season.

All in all, 12 teams will play in the women’s league and 8 teams will make it to the play-offs whereas the 4 teams left below the play-off-line will face play-outs.

Finland

In Finland, the women’s league (Salibandyliiga) will kick off this Wednesday with a single match. More matches will be played on Saturday.

*= Last season’s results after regular season. EräViikingit is a merger team by Viikingit and Erä. The result is according to Erä. – Means that the team didn’t play in the league last season.

12 teams will also play in the Finnish league. Top 8 teams will make it to play-offs, 9th team’s season will end and out of the last three the last will relegate straight to the second highest league and the two other teams will face play-outs.

Sweden

The women’s league in Sweden (SSL) will start this Saturday with one match. Six matches will follow up on Sunday.

All 14 teams of the women’s SSL will start their season this weekend. Out of the 14 teams, the top eight will continue to play-offs, the season ends for the next four teams and the last two teams will relegate to the lower division. The reason for why there are three new teams in the SSL this season, is because Huddinge IK gave up their place in the league.

Switzerland

In Switzerland, the women’s league (NLA) will start on Saturday with four matches.

17.9. 16:00 UH Red Lions Frauenfeld (-) v Aergera Giffers (7)
17.9. 19:00 R.A. Rychenberg Winterthur (4) v piranha chur (3)

Eight teams will battle for the title in the Swiss NLA. Each team will play in the play-offs, and unlike last season, none of the losing teams are facing play-outs. This is because in season 2017/18 the women’s NLA will be increased to 10 teams. The two first teams of the second highest league, NLB, will be promoted to the NLA.
