The Finnish Floorball Federation Board has decided that the 2017 Champions Cup will be held in the city of Seinäjoki during 6th-8th October 2017.

– Excellent news for us and the whole region. The region has widely been active and enthusiastic in the application and bidding process. Special thanks to the city Sport Services and to the Areena Oy (Ltd) Chairman Esa Alajoki for their contribution. Previously Seinäjoki has hosted the World University Floorball Championships 2008, but the upcoming Champions Cup is taking the organizing of an international floorball event to the next level,  comments the local club Seinäjoen Peliveljet (SPV)’s Sports Director, and men’s league team head coach, Tommy Koponen.

The Champions Cup 2017 will be the opening tournament of the renewed and enlarged Seinäjoki Areena. The event is expected to boom floorball not only in the city of Seinäjoki but also within the whole Pohjanmaa province:
– The growth of the licensed players within the region has been fastest in Finland in comparison to its size during the last year, says Finnish Floorball Federation Event Manager Janne Bruun.
