For the thirteenth time, young floorball players from all over Europe met in Prague to participate in the Prague Games.

One of the world’s biggest floorball youth tournaments, Prague Games, was held in Prague, Czech Republic 6-9.7. Exactly 380 teams from 12 countries took part in the tournament. There were 9 different categories and all in all 1164 matches were played during the four days. Finnish team Northern Stars and the Czech team Florbal Chodov were celebrating the most since they both won two titles.

Prague Games, however, is not only about winning. It is an event of international friendship and promotion of sports and fair play. Like last year, the tournament was accompanied by a campaign against bullying, which is aimed on informing children about the issue of bullying. It was joined by over 120 teams from 7 different countries.

Northern Stars G14

All the nine finals were played at Podvinný mlýn hall. Northern Stars from Finland were with no doubt the most successful among the girls´ teams. The Northern Stars won G14 and G18 categories and came sedond in G16 when they lost to the Swedish IBK Nacka Wallenstam in the final.

Boys had more categories, but Florbal Chodov was still able to dominate. The Prague team triumphed in two categories (B12 and B14) and was second in B16. The golden hat-trick was taken from them by the Swiss selection Team Swiss U17 White. At this year´s tournament a traditional participant from Prague, team FBŠ Bohemians, stood a little aside, as they gained only one silver medal (B15).

Tatran Stresovice red

A visit of Tomáš Hertl, San Jose Sharks forward and member of the Czech hockey national team, refreshed the final day. He came to the tournament as the Prague European Capital of Sport 2016 Ambassador. The friendly player awarded the winners of the B14 category. Sadly, he missed the peak of the day – the final game of the most prestigious category – B18 – in which Tatran Střešovice triumphed.
