The Central Board decided in its meeting on Sunday 20th that April 12th will be celebrated as the International Floorball Day.

The International Floorball Federation was founded 12th of April 1986 in Huskvarna, Sweden by the floorball associations of Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. In order to celebrate the IFF’s 30th Anniversary, the first International Floorball Day will take place 12.4.2016.

– The IFF has received some feedback, mostly on the social media, that we should consider launching April 12th as the International Floorball Day. And as it is our 30th Anniversary this year, we decided to do it now, says the IFF Information & Anti-Doping Manager Merita Bruun.

Floorball has grown rapidly and after 30 years the IFF now has 60 member associations and over 300 000 licensed players around the world.

– We celebrate the International Floorball Day and the 30 years of IFF’s existence to gather memories, views and moments from one of the fastest growing sport’s childhood and youth as there is not much documented from the early years of floorball in the different countries, says IFF General Secretary John Liljelund and continues

– One of the key elements for success for floorball in the future is the visibility and therefore we invite you all to take part on April 12th through Instagram, Twitter and Facebook with floorball posts, images and videos and the hashtag #InternationalFloorballDay
