In April 2010 the Floorball4All organisation and the Brazilian Floorball Association launched mutual projects in the cities of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, promoting several events in Non Governmental Organisation´s (NGO´s) and schools.
The main purpose was to teach a new sport to children, and also to capacitate new teachers and coaches, and especially, teach a new sport and provide some fun and happiness to careless children. During Floorball4All´s stay in Brazil they successfully instructed more than 40 floorball coaches.
According to Mr. Emilio Bugs, Vice President of the Brazilian Floorball Association the events were a great success:
– The children and also the different Non Governmental Organisations and schools became very interested in the sport, which may represent a great step for the increasing of floorball´s popularity in the region.
Friendly tournament in São Paulo
In order to celebrate the success, Floorball4All organised, on May 9, a tournament in São Paulo, with 4 junior teams and 4 teenagers/adults teams, including the team of the Brazilian Floorball Association. During a very pleasant afternoon, all the junior teams played among each other, the same structure applied to the adult competition. In the intermission, a lecture was given by Matthias Iseli, head of “Arca das Crianças”, a NGO established in São Paulo.
After the lecture, a friendly game was played by the Brazilian Floorball Association and a team formed by Swiss players of Floorball4All. After a though match, the Brazilian team beat Switzerland by 3-2.
The Brazilian team was also the champion of the adult tournament, winning all of its games, but at the end, everybody won: the atmosphere was great, all the children were very excited and focused on the sport, showing really nice skills.
It was also an opportunity for the network among all the NGOs and the Brazilian Association, that now can help themselves for floorball´s development, and also and especially, to give a chance for careless children to do sports and stay away from bad influences.
