The Women´s Final was extremenly thrilling this season when Rönnby became the new  Women´s champion after penalty shots.

Rönnby is the Women´s champion after winning the thrilling Final against the favourites Iksu. Iksu was able to come back into the match after Rönnby´s 5-1 lead. But Hanna Pettersson in the goal and the captain Karolina Widar (pictured), who put the decisive penalty shot into the net, made Rönnby´s dream come true.

– We have practiced penalty shots and our opponents apparently haven´t, which settled the match, the Rönnby coach Johan Kökeritz said to innebandy.se with a glimt in his eye.

Iksu’s coach Johan Sjöström was of the opinion that his team could not create enough movement on the field.
– We also shot many shots that were screened by the defenders and then Rönnby has a great goalie. Unfortunately we could not get our game going sooner, Sjöström said in innebandy.se´s interview.

When Rönnnby then increased the lead to 4-1 and 5-1 it seemed as if the game was over, but then Iksu:s star player Victoria Wikström scored an important second goal  for her team, with 10 seconds left of the 2nd period.

In the 3rd period Iksu gave more pressure to Rönnby´s defence and was able to even the score to 5-5 with goals scored by Anna Wijk, Cassandra Edberg and Martina Söderqvist.

Rönnby´s sniper Sara Stålberg took Rönnby again to the lead with two minutes left of the match, but 23 seconds later Wijk shot a canon, which was impossible to catch by Pettersson in the goal and the match continued on overtime.

– Wijks shot was amazing and rarely seen in Women´s Floorball! A great performance, Rönnby´s coach Johan Kökeritz admitted.

The match continued on overtime, but no goals were seen and when Iksu´s three penalty shooters missed and Rönnby´s players were able to score Rönnby was the team celebrating the Championship gold with a 7-6 victory.
