The players of the season 2009/10 have been nominated in Sweden and Sara Kristoffersson together with Rickie Hyvärinen were awarded as best players by the Swedish Floorball Federation.
The 24 year old forward from Falun, Sara Kristoffersson, was nominated based on the following criteria:
Sara Kristoffersson has always been a technical genius, but during this season she has lifted her performance to a higher level. She has been the dominant player in her club team Falun and in the national team she has been able to perform better than ever before. The result of this was the WFC gold and a nomination to the All Star team.
Sara Kristoffersson has during the previous season increased her capacity to work on the field. She is better trained than before and has therefore more endurance and is also quicker on the field. The increased amount of routine has also made her a mentally stronger player. But most of all Kristoffersson has an amazing technique with a lot of surprising tricks, which makes her a favourite amongst the spectators. She is Eliserien´s artist worth seeing and therefore one of the world´s best Floorball players.
– I think it is Extremely fun to be acknowledged for my game. This is incredibly big! The player of the year is the best nomination one can receive as a Floorball player, Kristoffersson said to innebandy.se.
In the Men´s category the price goes to Caperiotäby´s 29 year old forward Rickie Hyvärinen and the criteria was the following:
Rickie Hyvärinen has during the years developed from a good player to a real Floorball star. Through his energy, strength and the will to always be a resource for his team he has also developed himself to become a player mentioned in all connections, when talking about the top scorers or good defensive players.
– I could see that I was nominated and it has been a good season for both myself and my team. But when looking at the other players nominated there were a lot of high class players and many had the chance to receive the price, Hyvärinen said to innebandy.se
Hyvärinen was the top scorer in the Swedish Superleague and can now add yet another merit to his list.
– This is the biggest acknowledgement one can receive as an individual Floorball player. It is a big honour and I will accept the price with modesty. Right now the focus is on the national Final and I think that I will appreciate this nomination even more after the season.
Caperiotäby will meet Storvreta in the Final on Saturday.
– We and Storvreta are two teams worthy of a place in the Final. It will be tough for us, but we have a good chance and we trust in ourselves.
