Classic from Tampere is the Women´s Finnish champion after winning the third final in a row against SB-Pro with 3-1.  The gold was the fourth for Classic.

Hanna Sipiläinen delighted the 928 spectators in the Tampere Arena when she scored the first goal for Classic after 6 minutes. Classic was however not able to increase the lead despite many good scoring opportunities and in the second period SB-Pro could even the score.

In the final period the routine of the Classic team proved to make the difference and the experienced Classic captain Katriina Saarinen forced the ball to the offensive zone, passed the ball to Sipiläinen that gave a pass back to Saarinen, who could put the ball into the net. Sipiläinen, who was awarded best player, increased the Classic lead to 3-1, which remained the final numbers although SB-Pro fought hard until the end.

– We had a tremendous will to fight and to protect our own goal, so there was a lot of human flesh between the ball and our goalie, Katriina Saarinen summarised her team´s attitude to salibandyliiga.fi.
– We had the advantage of being in these situations before and could benefit from the previous experience.

Saarinen further said to salibandyliiga.fi that this championship gold felt the best out of the three in a row:
– We had a very difficult autumn as the EuroFloorball Cup was a flop and our many injuries made it difficult to get two lines to the matches. As a team we were however able to get through the problems.

Classic´s head coach, Irina Peltola, gave credit to SB-Pro that won their first Championship medal:
– They fought hard and played much more relaxed in the last two matches after the first game in which they were very nervous.
