Finland defeated Poland with 6-3 and will play against Sweden in the semi-final on Friday starting at 18:15. Slovakia defeated Singapore with 9-3 in a match, which did not effect the standings in group C.

Both Finland and Poland seemed to save some of their energy and players for the upcoming matches. Finland´s offensive line with Anna Yli-Kojola (pictured), Elina Enlund and Mia Alén and defender Paula Jouhten, who did not play that much yesterday, started with a good flow and both Yli-Kojola and Jouhten collected 1+1 in the first period. 3-0 was the result after 20 minutes.

Finland possessed the ball also in the 2nd period but were not able to increase the lead. When Poland´s Magdalena Krzystyniak was left without guard in the beginning of the 3rd period, her goal started the Polish comeback. After Agata Kolesinska´s  2-3 goal Poland put their first line, which had been sitting on bench, in and tried to even the score.

Poland had their momentum, but Finland was able to keep their goal clean, and after an ineffective period, they could increase the lead to three goals before the end of the match.

– We won the match but the goal scoring was again very difficult. We had about 50 scoring opportunities, but over half of the shots missed the target, the Finnish coach Jari Oksanen said in Salibandylliiga´s interview.

Yli-Kojola and Mariola Szarmach in the Polish goal were awarded as best players.
