The Brazilian Floorball Association has organised Floorball clinics in January and February in SESC, in the City of Piracicaba, which is about 200km from Sao Paolo. In total there were four clinics organised on a biweekly basis.
The main intention with the clinics was to call the attention of SESC´s (The Social Service of Commerce) associates to the sport, during approximately two hours, the participants learned basic exercises such as passing, ball control, shooting, basic techniques etc.
In addition a brief explanation of floorball´s history and rules was given and the clinics ended in short games (10 min. each), with little interventions in order to instruct how to play correctly.
The Brazilian Association received good feedback for organising the clinics despite the heat (it was just in the middle of the Brazilian summer, in a city where the temperature goes easily to about 35ºC – 40ºC).
Approximately 40 – 50 participants of all age groups, but basically teenagers about 13-14 year olds, attended the clinics.
Out of these, about 20 people were very interested in Floorball, always inquiring about some advanced techniques and some other aspects of the sport.
There was also some talent identified among them, kids that with a little practice could became really good Floorball players.
The Brazilian Floorball Association´s aim is to organise more clinics in the future with the assistance of the SESC´s representatives.
