Sweden won the World Schools´ Championships 2009 finals in both girls and boys categories in Trencin, Slovakia.

In boys, Sweden defeated Czech Republic in the semifinals 12-2, and qualified to the finals. Slovak Republic 1 also qualified clearly to the finals by defeating Slovak Republic 2 with 9-2.

The final was controlled by the Swedes. After the first period the match was 5-0 for Sweden, but in the last period the Slovakians fought hard and finally they managed to score once. The final result was 5-1 for Sweden.

Slovak Republic 2 won the bronze in front of Czech Republic in an exciting match with 5-3. The 5th place went for Germany. Hungary was 6th and Georgia 7th.

 

In girls, Sweden went clearly to the final by defeating Czech Republic with 12-0. The other semifinal was very tight between the host Slovak Republic and Russia. The regular playing time finished 1-1 and Russians managed to score at over time, so it was the Russians to challenge the Swedish team in the final. 

The final was clearly for team Sweden ending 9-0. The host Slovak Republic was stronger in the bronze match winning over Czech Republic with 4-0.

5th place was played between the Netherlands and Georgia, where the Dutch took 6-0 lead after the first period. The final result was 9-0 for team Netherlands.
