Day two of EFCQ West offered several good and tight matches.

A women´s games started the day. Spanish CUF Leganes played against Dutch HDM. The game was even almost to the end and five minutes before the end Leganes had 2-1 lead. However, instead of Dutch eaqualizer, the woman of the match, Laura Martinez scored the third time and the final score was 3-1 for CUF Leganes.

In the men´s group A todays game was German UHC Sparkasse against Spanish CUF Leganes. The intensive and fast game ended as a draw, the final result was 5-5. Sparkasse had the lead all the way to the last minute, but only 27 seconds before the end Peter Skiden made the equalizing goal.

The third game was between French Paris UC and Icelandic Bandyfelag Kopavogs. Paris team started the game very strongly and after first period the score was already 9-1. The final result was 17-1 for Paris UC, this was their first victory in international games.

Yesterday the home team Hafnia had a sticky start, but today they started the game sharply. In the game against Dutch HDM the first goal was scored only 32 seconds after the start. The Danes dominated the game all the way to the end and the final result was 10-2.

The last game of the day became a real thriller, when the women´s teams FC Outlaws and CUF Leganes met. The home team Outlaws started the game better and after the first period they had the lead 2-0. However, the Spanish team did not give up and in the second period they tied the match to 2-2. In the third period both teams had good chances to decide the game, but the goalkeepers kept their goals clean. In the end especially Outlaws pushed very hard, but they did not succeed to score.

The EuroFloorball Cup qualifications for this autumn started today, when the qualification group West had the kick-off in Frederikshavn, Denmark. The other two qualification groups will be played next weekend in Finland (EFCQ Top 4 Nations) and in two weeks in Slovakia (EFCQ East).

The day in Arena Nord started with men´s group A, when Norwegian Sarpsborg IBK played against the German UHC Sparkasse. First two periods were tight, the game advanced so that Sarpsborg first took the lead and then Sparkasse narrowed the lead. After two periods the score was 6-4 to Sarpsborg. The beginning of the third period was very strong for Sarpsborg, they made three goals in the first minute and the game was decided. The final score was 12-6 to Sarpsborg.

The second game of the day was in men´s group B, where the newcomer in the international floorball, Icelandic Bandyfelag Kopavogs, met the Dutch HDM. The debut period of Kopavogur went well, the score after first period was 2-0 for HDM. However, when the game went on, the Dutch experience came more clear and the final score was 11-1 for HDM.

The last game of the day was between the French Paris UC and the Danish Hafnia. The start of the tournament was a bit sticky for the home team and the Paris UC challenged the favorites bravely. After the second period the result was only 2-1 to Hafnia. In the third period the Danes started to push more and they also started to succeed, so the final score was 11-1 for Hafnia.

The women´s tournament will start tomorrow morning at 10 am when the Spanish CUF Leganes will challenge the Dutch HDM. Read more about the tournament and the statistics from here.

 

EFC Qualifications West starts today in Denmark. All the games are played in the Arena Nord, Frederikshavn.

The winner of both Men´s and Women´s tournament will be qualified to the EuroFloorball Cup Final Round, which will be played 8.-12.10.2008 in Winterthur, Switzerland.
