The Swedish Floorball Federation has started an Equal   treatment project in order to strengthen Floorball.

According to Lars-Gunnar Tjärnquist, the President of the Swedish Floorball Federation, the equality aspect towards genders, in Floorball is an important strategic question for the future development of the sport and it is related to strengthening the competitiveness of Floorball.

The aim is to make different positions within the organisation attractive for both genders in order to find the right competence and the right person for a specific task. There are also other benefits with the project.

That Floorball is a sport working actively for equal treatment is an advantage when for example investments for new facilities are being considered. It can be motivating for politicians to invest in a sport, which is considered equal, Tjärnquist points out.

There is also an aim to increase the amount of female Floorball players in Sweden, which today consists of 25 % of the licensed players, and to increase the number of voluntary workers. Key words that shall govern the project are competence, competitiveness, and climate.

– There is a great potential in the girls and women when trying to find new members to increase the total amount of licensed Floorball players, stresses Tjärnquist.
