In Bosnia and Herzegovina floorball is a relatively new sport, but it is developing and spreading rapidly both in quantity and quality. A historical event took place in Banja Luka on the 15th of February, 2008 when the founding meeting of the first ever Floorball Club in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held. The new Club got the name “Floorball Klub Gromovi” (English: “Lightnings”).
Coaching seminar in Bugojno
Also the second educational seminar for floorball coaches in Bosnia was held in Bugojno from the 4th to the 9th of February, 2008 in a very international atmosphere: all the three constitutive Bosnian nationalities, as well as Romas, Finns, Germans and Swiss people, were all represented! The participants were divided into two different levels: 8 participants completed the first level and 7 participants, who finished the first level last year, the second level. The organizers for the seminar were two Christian non-governmental organizations “Unihockey fur Strassenkinder” (www.floorball4all.ch) from Switzerland and “Mladi Otkrivači Života“ from Bosnia.
Even though training conditions were not optimal, the high standard of teaching was really appreciated by the new floorball coaches. Christoph Kneer, David Kaufmann and Simone Steiner– young floorball players with experience from the Swiss U19 national team – sacrificed their holiday to educate and share their knowledge with the Bosnians. Nathanael Kaufmann taught professionally about the rules of the floorball and refereeing.
One of the participants, the 17 year old Nedžmin Škorić from Sanksi Most, was really satisfied with the seminar. “Super” was his spontaneous opinion about the seminar. According to Nedžmin the best things included learning all the exercises, practicing and gaining a deeper understanding of the rules. His only negative feedback about the seminar was the arguing during the games, probably a very familiar thing for all floorball players.
Floorball actors from Bosnia and Herzegovina are also participating in the IFF Development Program Seminar held in Zelezniky, Slovenia, from the 28th of February until the 2nd of March 2008.
