SC Classic and HFK Dekanka won the bronze
SC Classic won the Men´s match for third place with clear numbers. The Women´s bronze match was thrilling, as the decisive goal scored on overtime by HFK Dekanka.
SC Classic´s Juuso Kiviharju could with his two goals take Classic into an early 2-0 lead. There was really no question about the better team in the match today as Classic dominated throughout the game. The final numbers were 12-3 and Classic won their first ever Men´s EFC medal (the Classic Women´s team have one bronze medal from EC 2004/2005). Lassi Vänttinen gained 1+5, Lasse Salminen and Juuso Kiviharju 3+0
The Women´s bronze match was far more exciting. Rönnby´s Susanne Tuominen took her team to a 1-0 lead in the first period but this was still the only goal after two periods. Both teams had their scoring opportunities, but the goalkeepers played a good match 1-0 this was still the score after 45 minutes. In 46.29 Magdalena Sindelová gave her team hope as she evened the score to 1-1.
The game was still 1-1 after regular time but in 67.31 on overtime HFK Dekanka´s defender Oksana Komissarova could break Rönnby´s fore checking and scored the decisive goal for HFK Dekanka.

AIK and Warberg in the Men´s final
After today´s semi-finals it became clear that the finalists from last year´s European Cup will play versus each other again in the EuroFloorball Cup 2007/2008 final when both AIK (reigning Men´s champion) and Warberg as well as UHC Dietlikon (reigning Women´s champion) and IKSU made it to the finals.
AIK´s first offensive line with Conny Westerlund was too much for SC Classic in the Men´s semi-final. Westerlund was involved in all of AIK´s goals (1+3) and AIK was leading with 4-0 after 52 minutes.
Classic came back into the game with Sami Nyman´s two goals and when they took out the goalkeeper Tero Karppanen could score one more and the game became really interesting. Classic still had a good opportunity within the final seconds, but no goal, and the reigning champion, AIK, plays in the final again after a 4-3 victory.
Warberg IC crushed Tatran Stresovice
Warberg played in the other semi-final against Tatran Stresovice. Warberg took an early 4-0 lead in the first period after two goals scored by Martin Emanuelsson. Tatran could score one goal after a nice executed penalty shot, but then Warberg continued dominating the match and won the semi-final quite easily. The final numbers were 8-2 to Warberg. Both finals will be broadcasted by Eurosport2 and Sport Channel (Finland) will broadcast the matches live and Swiss TV will also show clips from the women´s final.
SSV took the 5th place
The match for 5th place was interesting as it was a tight game and also included surprisingly many own goals. Team Wiler-Ersigen took the lead in the first period with 2 goals. It was only in the second period that SSV came into the game when they scored their first. The third period was exciting as both teams scored in turns. The match went on overtime and then it was SSV who could settle the match after 15 seconds on overtime after an own goal by SV Wiler-Ersigen. The final numbers were 6-5 to SSV.
In the Men´s match for 7th place there was a real goal festival when Fjerdingby IBK defeated Viking Roma with 16-11. Rubene defeated Nizhny Novgorod in the Women´s match for 7th place with 9-2.
Dietlikon and IKSU will play in the Women´s final
UHC Dietlikon and IKSU will play in the women´s EFC final tomorrow starting at 12:00 (11:00 CET). The final will be broadcasted by Eurosport2, Sport Channel (Finland) and match clips will also be shown on Swiss TV.
UHC Dietlikon made it to the finals after defeating Rönnby in the first semi-final. Dietlikon was under with one goal after the first period, but could improve the level of their game in the second and put in 4 goals to take a 4-1 lead when going into the final period. Despite having many scoring opportunities, Rönnby could not make enough goals and and the final numbers were 4-2 to Dietlikon. Read more here.
IKSU played versus HFK Dekanka in a match were both teams played well defensively. IKSU lead with two goals halfway into the third period, but then Kristina Jilkova scored the 1-2 goal. IKSU could however hold on to their lead until the end and made it to the final.
Sveiva IBK managed to defeat Tapanilan Erä in the match for the fifth place. This match was 4-4 after 60 minutes and could only be settled after penalty shots. As both Linda Beate Andersen and Josefin Andersson scored from Sveiva and only Johanna Hellsten got the ball in from Erä, Sveiva took the 5th place in the Women´s EFC.
11th January
Rönnby and Warberg in the semi-finals
All four Swedish teams participating in the EFC made their way to the semi-finals tomorrow.
Rönnby won the decisive match versus Tapanilan Erä with 3-1 and will play in the Women´s semi-final match versus UHC Dietlikon at 10:30 (9:30 CET) tomorrow. Also IKSU made it to the semis and will play against HFK Dekanka at 13:30 (12:30 CET) tomorrow.
In the Men´s Group B everything was open until the final match of the day where SSV played against Warberg. As Classic defeated Fjerdingby with 9-2 in the earlier match, SSV would have needed to at least a draw versus Warberg.
Warberg proved however to be a tough opponent tonight and when 7 minutes was played of the third period the score was already 8-2 to Warberg. Especially the skill, in which the Warberg players could rotate their positions, as the defenders lifted up to the offense and vice versa, was well executed. Warberg also did an excellent job in blocking the shots and it was not until SSV got to play much on power play that the Finnish team could challenge Warberg. SSV made the game interesting as they got as close as 6-8 and 7-9, but that was the final result tonight and Warberg will play versus Tatran in the semi-final 19:30 (18:30 CET).

Both Czech teams in the semi-finals
The Czech champion HFK Dekanka defeated Sveiva with clear numbers 7-2 today and will play in the semi-finals versus the winner of Women´s group A, IKSU, tomorrow. Dekanka´s Dominika Stéglová played an outstanding match against Sveiva, with 3+3. Read the match report here.
Tatran also made it to the semi-finals by defeating Wiler-Ersigen with 4-3 in a very thrilling match. A tie would have been enough for Tatran, but in 59.59 Michal Jedlièka made the decisive goal into an empty net

SSV and Warberg victorious tonight
Warberg won the match versus Classic 9-6. Classic started strong in the match and until the third period it looked as if Classic would win the match, but then Warberg scored four goals in a row and took an important victory. Read the match report here.

Fjerdingby defended well against SSV today, but could not repeat what they did yesterday versus Warberg. SSV was the stronger team throughout the match and the final score was 6-2 to SSV. Read the match report here.

IKSU won the Swedish battle versus Rönnby and secured their way to the semi-finals
The game was a 1-1 after the first period, but then IKSU dominated the game with precise passing and well coordinated team play. Rönnby also had some powerful shots but IKSU goalkeeper Malin Alfredsson made tremendous saves to keep her team´s lead. In the third period, IKSU increased their lead with a lovely play-up from Nina Bäckman and Josefin Eiremo. With 3 minutes left in the game, Rönnby played with 6 players and managed to put in a well deserved goal in the last minute, but IKSU won the game 3-2 and won the Women´s group B.
Tapanilan Erä will play against Rönnby for a place in the semi-finals
Tapanilan Erä lead with 3-0 versus Rubene after 40 minutes. Erä´s goals were scored by Eija Pasanen and two by Niina Valjakka, but then Tatjana Varsa scored Rubene´s first to 1-3. In 59.24 Rubene managed to put in one more and it was 2-3. Erä could however hang on to their lead and take home the two important points from the match. Tomorrow´s match between Erä and Rönnby at 18:30 will be a very decisive match, as the winner will play in the semi-finals.
AIK and Dietlikon still unbeaten
Both AIK and UHC Dietlikon won both their matches and have a good chance of winning their respective groups.
Dietlikon took their second victory 6-3 over the Czech champion HFK Dekanka and are now leading the Women´s group A. Read more here. Also AIK remains undefeated although Wiler Ersigen was leading three times throughout the game, but as AIK´s power play was efficient and resulted in four goals, the final score was 10-5 to AIK. In the Women´s EFC Sveiva also got their first two points after winning the Russian team Nizhny Novgorod in a match with a lot of scoring opportunities for both teams. The final numbers were 8-6 to Sveiva

Classsic evened the score versus SSV
The last match of the opening day offered a lot of excitement. As the reigning Finnish champion SSV played versus their Finnish opponent Classic.
SSV was controlling the ball and also lead the match most of the time, but Classic could always come back into the game. When SSV was leading 5-3 with less than one minute left of the match Classic took out the goalkeeper and this time it paid off. First Henri Johansson scored in 59.29 and then Juuso Kiviharju scored the prettiest goal of the evening as he managed to put the ball in from the air. Read more here
Tapanilan Erä met one of the favourite teams from Sweden, IKSU, in the Women´s EFC. IKSU started strong and lead the match already 4-0 after the first period. Erä played better in the third period, but could not defeat their stronger opponent today, and the final numbers were 6-2 to IKSU
Fjerdingby surprises Warberg in EFC
Fjerdingby created the first sensation in the EFC by winning a point from one of the favourite teams Warberg, as the final score was 7-7.
Warberg lead the match with 4 goals in the start of the third period, but Fjerdingby did not give up and with only 35 seconds left in the game the Norwegian team scored the equalizer. Fjerdingby also had a very good scoring opportunity within the final seconds, but the shot was wide. Read more here.
Rönnby had no problems to defeat the Latvian champion, Rubene, in the Women´s EFC and took home a comfortable 9-2 victory.
Opening games of the EuroFloorball Cup
The Women´s EuroFloorball Cup opened wins for Dekanka from Czech Republic and UHC Dietlikon (Switzerland). SV Wiler from Switzerland and AIK from Sweden won their matches in the Men´s EFC.
Dekanka crushed the Russian team Nizhny Novgorod with 15-0. The best player of the game was Dekankas Diana Brennerova with three goals and three assists.
Also the reigning EFC champion UHC Dietlikon had an easy match versus Sveiva from Norway as Sveiva could not hang on to the speed of the Swiss team for more than half an hour. The final score was 12-0 to Dietlikon and Mirca Anderegg scored 4+4.
The Swiss champions SV Wiler-Ersigen had a hard time versus FC Roma from Italy in the start of the match, but could then secure their first victory with 7-2.
Also the reigning EFC champion AIK played their first match versus Tatran. AIK was the stronger team, but the numbers were kept tight. AIK took home the victory with a two goal difference 10-8. Both Niklas Jihde and Conny Vesterlund scored 4+2 and Tatran´s best player was Milan Fridrich with 3+1
