Canberra, the capital of Australia, hosted the first ever organised IFF Event, the Floorball Development Seminar, organised by the ACT Floorball Association and the Australian Floorball Association, AFA.

The seminar was organised in an Indoor Sports venue, with a full size floorball field and with the seminar rooms in the same facility. This time the seminar was only directed towards the refereeing and coaching, not organisation. Still one of the reasons for organising the seminar in Australia, was also to give the AFA a possibility to develop the operations in the different states. The total attendance was 21 participants, 15 in refereeing and 6 in coaching as well as a number of AFA officials that visited the seminar.

Simultaneously with the seminar the Australian Men´s A national team was practicing in the same venue. The seminar was also visited by the Swedish elite player Peter Runnestig, from Pixbo Wallenstam, who was on a pr-tour in Australia.

The feedback given by the participants, clearly states that seminars of this type are needed, in order to develop floorball in the same direction all over the world. The AFA President Mrs. Barb Summers thanked the IFF for taking the initiative to organise the seminar in Australia.

In connection to the seminar the AFA had a meeting with the Australian Sports Commission, in order to discuss the steps needed to receive official recognition of Floorball in Australia.
