Distinguished guests and Floorball friends,
On behalf of the International Floorball Federation (IFF) I have the pleasure and honour to announce the 4th edition of the World Floorball Championships for U19 men in Switzerland.
The evolution of Floorball for the youth is astonishing in the sense of attractiveness for both the number of girls and boys willing to join our movement in all our member associations, and for the spectators and media at large.
In good co-operation with the cities of Kirchberg and Zuchwil, the Swiss Floorball Association, the SUHV, is organizing the event for 16 participating nations. I would like again to stress and thank the Swiss FA for excellent co-operation and for taking the lead in international development for organizing top IFF events! We have seen the excellently performed events in both the WFC 2003 for women, in the WFC 2004 for men and in 2005 for the EuroFloorball Cup and as well in 2006 the World Floorball University Championships. The SUHV does a very important job for international Floorball development, and has hence broaden its base with top officials and raised the level of attractiveness for Floorball in Switzerland, which is very important in order to give Floorball another boost in achieving our joint objective to become an Olympic Sport!
Today IFF consists of 40 member countries, all which are very active in developing our sport worldwide. We welcome our latest member, Ireland, and wish them all the best in taking part in Floorball. For the roadmap towards the IOC recognition we have potential candidates for membership within IFF of well over another twenty countries.
It is with delight and exhilaration that the Floorball family is looking forward to coming to Switzerland.
The IFF on behalf of all participants conveys the best wishes for a thrilling tournament and many thanks to SUHV in good
co-operation with the cities of Kirchberg and Zuchwil for organizing the WFC U19.
Yours sincerely,
Tomas Eriksson
IFF President
