Distinguished guests and Floorball friends,

On behalf of the International Floorball Federation (IFF) I have the pleasure and honour to announce the 6th World Floorball Championships for women in Denmark. It is with delight and exhilaration that we look forward to coming to Denmark and to the city of Frederikshavn. For the first time Danish Floorball Union organizes the WFC, even though DaFU have already very prosperously hosted the EC qualifications. The development within DaFU, with about 90 clubs and nearly 5 000 members is impressing, and constantly growing within the Danish Sports Confederation.

Today IFF consists of 39 member countries, all which are very active in developing our sport worldwide. We welcome our latest member, Moldova, and wish them all the best in taking part in Floorball. For the roadmap towards the IOC recognition we have potential candidates for membership within IFF of well over another twenty countries.

Floorball is constantly growing and attracts the youth and the Internet generation as well as the spectators to a larger extent for every year. In order to meet with all expectations we now in May shortly before the WFC in Denmark organize together with the International School Sports Federation the World School-sports Championships in Floorball for girls and boys in the Czech Republic for the very first time. Another huge success was the last World University Championships organized in Berne in November 2006 by the Swiss FA in very good co-operation with the Swiss University Association. I am proud to inform that we signed together with FISU an agreement that will enlarge and develop Floorball together and inside the University Sports, and hence help us achieve our objective to become an Olympic Sport.

On Friday May 18th the IFF Presidents- and Secretary Generals´ meeting is organized to which all Presidents and Secretary Generals have been invited to. I would like to emphasise the fact that many important issues are to be discussed about in order to improve our organization and meet with our Objectives and Vision, and thus it is important that you all take part!
