Austrian Floorball Association have elected Thomas Nievergelt as the new Head Coach for the women’s national team. The Swiss youth development expert took on the position on the 25th of November.
The Austrian women’s national team now has a new head coach, Thomas Nievergelt. The experienced Swiss coach is coming to Austria after thirteen years of coaching women’s youth teams in his home country and was able to win the Junior C Championship and Junior U21 vice championship. The former ice hockey player has wide knowledge including mental coaching, tactics and goalies.
– Austria has a lot of potential! I’m happy to join the team and to be part of building something special. Our goal is to become part of the fifteen best teams in the world, says Nievergelt, the Head Coach of UCH Lugano U21 women.
Floorball Austria’s vice president Timmo Taurer stated his happiness about the fresh restart for Austrian women’s floorball:
– This signing will be a huge boost for women’s floorball. Thomas is a guy who gets things done and he identifies with what we expect from him. It is necessary for Austrian Floorball to find ways to gain more female players and clubs. Getting Thomas on board is definitely a big step forward, Taurer adds.
