Eight teams will play in the WFC Qualifications in Bangkok, Thailand. The AOFC Qualifications start on Sunday, 27th of January and last until 1st of February. As four best teams qualify to the WFC 2019 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, the qualified teams are decided on January 31st.

In AOFC, the teams are divided into two groups and they will play once against each of the other teams in their group. Based on the results from these group matches the teams will progress to the play-off rounds, and the four best teams will qualify. The teams placed 1st in Group A & Group B progress to the final and qualify directly to the WFC Final round.  Teams placed 2nd in each group play a semi-final against the 3rd placed team from the other group. The winners progress to the 3rd placed match and both qualify directly to the WFC Final round.

Team presentations – GROUP A

AUSTRALIA

After a disappointing WFC 2017 campaign, the team has regrouped and intensified training. As usual, Team Australia consists of some well-known veterans as well as some rookies. With another year under the belt with Head Coach Neil Anderes’ playing philosophy, they are looking forward to and expecting some refreshing, modern floorball.

Players to watch:

 Lauren Hogan
Experienced player, making her 3rd WFCQ appearance. As an allrounder with playmaking abilities and a low error rate she is a valuable team member.

 

 

 Rosemary Burtenshaw
Playing her 2nd WFCQ, Rosemary is known to be extremely fit and very versatile. She is able to play as a defender or as an attacker and will shine in both positions nonetheless.

 

 

 Jessica Birks
Making her 1st appearance in the Team Australia uniform and usually playing in Sweden, Jessica will add some European touch to the line up. Being able to play defender or centre, it will be interesting to see her influence on the already European shaped playing style.

 

THAILAND

Thailand are a new team and they hope to preform the best they can to qualify through to the championships in Switzerland.

Players to watch:

 Sirinan Boonbut
Forward with precise goal shooting abilities. Has experience from the Women’s WFC in 2017.

 

 

 Tikhamporn Sakunpithak
A disciplined playmaker who plays like she was born with the stick in her hand.

 

 

 Suthasinee Phalaruk
Defensive player based in Sweden, who keeps the defensive line reliable and focused.

 

 

 

NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand has a good mixture of experienced and new players. The goal for the New Zealand team is to improve on their results from the last qualification and to ultimately qualify for the Word Championships in Neuchâtel, Switzerland.

Players to watch:

 Maya Hatchwell
One of New Zealand team’s many young debutants. Maya is both stealthy and quick, and has some unexpected moves up her sleeve.

 

 

 Georgia Kibblewhite
Their most experienced player with the capability to play anywhere on the field. Georgia is strong and determined with a great finish.

 

 

 Esther Chan
Another debutant that can change the direction a game is going. Esther is strong and fast with great game awareness.

 

 

 

PHILIPPINES

This is the first appearance of the Philippines in the WFCQ. Composed of a mix of young talented and experienced players, the women Philippines floorball will show grit and fight hard to win at least one match in the group stage for reaching the quarter final match, and go for the win to qualify. This competition is important in their preparation for the SEA Games in November as the country hosts the Games.

Players to watch:

 Roxane Ruiz
One of the most experienced players in the team. Effective playmaker and catalyst for the team.

 

 

 

 Edelyn Embile
One of the smartest players of the team. Superb vision and makes her team mates look good. Let not her stature deceive you.

 

 

 Jade Rivera
The heart of the team, uplifts her teammates to be at their very best. One of the key scorers of the team.

 

 

 

GROUP B

JAPAN

Japan is a well-balanced team with veteran and young players, Japanese-style guards and fast attacks. They would like to play in the WFC 2019 by winning Asia-Oceania Qualifications third time in a row.

Players to watch:

 Yui Goto
She is one of the best players of the team. Her potential for international level floorball, physical working capacity and skills are very attractive.

 

 Yamanaka Miko 
She keeps Japan’s goal untouched by taking advantage of agility and responsiveness while being small.

 

 

 Yui Takahashi
Regardless of her height, her physical working capacity and fighting spirit are great. WFC in Neuchâtel would be her 8th WFC.

 

 

 

SINGAPORE

They are a relatively young and jovial team eager to learn from the best. WFCQ 2019 will be a great platform for Singapore to test their capability and give their spectators bang for their buck.

Players to watch:

 Mindy Lim
A relatively young player in the international scene. She brings tenacity and speed in her way of playing.

 

 

 

 Siti Nurhaliza
A very cool and swift player with sight for the goal and productive player on court. She will find ways to do her tricks on the field, so do not leave her unattended.

 

 

 Yee Yun Shawn
Composed and sturdy, known to be the silent killer in the team. Don’t be fooled by her smile, if you ever manage to catch her.

 

 

REPUBLIC OF KOREA

They have new and very young team. They think this team is 2nd generation of Korea women team and also team for the future. Even though the players do not have lot of experience, they believe they can play and fight well. The aim of the team is to play as one and learn a lot from this tournament. The final goal is a ticket to Switzerland.

Players to watch:

 Ji Yul Maeng
Captain of the team and one of the most experienced players. She is physically (ex taekwondo girl) and technically very good. She controls the game and keeps the defence safe.

 

 Katarina Myung Joo Gronvall
She is from floorball home country Sweden. She has a lot of experiences in floorball for long time. She will be the most important player in this tournament.

 

 

 Yunji Kim
One of the youngest players in the team. She has played floorball just about an year. But she played football as an elite player before. She is physically very good and has good attitude for sport and good game sense. She is a player for the future.

 

MALAYSIA

The team is made up of most players that played in the AOFC Cup 2018. Team Malaysia wish to build upon the momentum and improve the placing from the 2017 WFCQ.

Players to watch:

 Ivana Sonia Beriak
A fast and powerful forward with a keen eye on the goal. She has international experience from 2017 WFCQ, 2015 SEA Games and from 2018 Asia-Oceania Cup.

 

 

 Ellya Syahirah Ellias
A composed defender that controls the game well from behind. This is her first WFCQ.

 

 

 

 Michaela Khoo
An agile goalkeeper with quick reflexes. This is her second WFCQ.
