The tournament continued where it started, with the two finalists from the first World University Championships Sweden and Finland beating their morning opponents with over 20 goals. The result was 24 – 0 for Finland against Austria and 26 – 0 for Sweden against Japan

The other matches of the day where very tight, which made the organisers of the next WUC in 2008 in Kuortane in Finland very happy. Hungary defeated Austria with 9-6 and plays for 5th place against Slovakia, who won Japan with only 2 – 0. Austria and Japan play for the 7th place on Saturday.

The matches for semi-finals were both very interesting affairs, even though the Czech Republic gained the lead with 4 – 0 against the Finns, but the Finns came back and equalised the game in the third period, with scoring four goals. The draw was enough for Finland to win the group before the Czechs. In the other group Switzerland started fast and scored the first goal, then the Swedes took over the game and gained a two goal lead, after the first period with a very effective power play.

But the Swiss first line lead by Matthias Hofbauer took them back into the game and even to a 6 – 5 lead. The Swedes however returned control of the match and took a 8 – 6 lead after two periods. In the last period Switzerland only scored one goal, so the Swedes goes against the Czech into the semi-final and the Swiss will play the Finns in the other semi-final.
