16 276 spectators watched the reigning champion, team Finland, defeat Sweden in the thrilling WFC final in the O2 arena. The overall attendance reached also reached a new record number – 181 518 spectators.
Finland decided the final against Sweden in the third period by scoring four goals and won the match 6-3. Juha Kivilehto, who scored two goals in the final, was elected best player of the gold medal team.
Switzerland won the bronze match against Czech Republic 4-2.
A 5th and 7th place matches took place before the medal matches. In the last match at the Arena Sparta, Norway beat Denmark and finished in the 7th position, while Latvia ends in the 5th place after winning against Germany 5-3 at the O2 Arena.
