The Floorball Champions Cup 2027 has reached the semi-final stage. The remaining teams will play each other twice, with the winners progressing to the final. Here is a look at the four women’s teams that have made it through: Thorengruppen IBK (Sweden), Zug United (Switzerland), FBC Kalmarsund (Sweden), and Tatran Střešovice (Czech Republic).
Thorengruppen IBK vs. Zug United
Thorengruppen are the defending champions and were unstoppable in last year’s Champions Cup. This year, however, they faced a tougher challenge in the quarterfinals against the Finnish side, EräViikingit. Thorengruppen won both matches, but only by a single goal each time.
Thorengruppen are currently leading the Swedish league (SSL), and their key players are performing as well as ever. In just six games, Veera Kauppi has 12 goals and 5 assists, Oona Kauppi has 4 goals and 11 assists, and Maja Viström has 6 goals and 7 assists. However, it is Suvi Hämäläinen who has led the team in the Champions Cup so far, with 3 goals and 1 assist in two matches. It seems Hämäläinen is continuing the excellent form she showed while playing for Classic in previous tournaments. Many players in the Thorengruppen squad have won the Champions Cup before, but can they be stopped by the talented Swiss team, Zug United?
Zug United reached the semi-finals after a difficult quarter-final against the Czech team, Bulldogs Brno. The match went to overtime, where Denisa Ratajova scored the winning goal to secure their place in the next round. Zug are currently leading the Swiss league (L-UPL), and their players are dominating the scoring charts. Laila Ediz is a player to watch; she has 15 points (3 goals and 12 assists) in only five matches. Alongside Ediz, the team relies on Julia Croneld, Isabelle Gerig, Martina Repkova, and the goal-scorer Ratajova. These five players are the leaders in the Swiss league, and Zug United will be hoping they can carry this form into the Champions Cup. Can Zug make history and qualify for their first ever Floorball Champions Cup final?

FBC Kalmarsund vs. Tatran Střešovice
FBC Kalmarsund and the Swiss side Floorball Thurgau are the surprise packages of this year’s tournament, as both have reached the semi-finals in their debut Champions Cup appearance. The Swedish team made a powerful start to the competition; they were far stronger than their first opponents, Koovee, winning both matches 12-0.
Karolina Klubalova is currently leading the Champions Cup scoring charts with 6 goals and 6 assists in just two games, followed closely by Ellen Backstedt, who has 3 goals and 7 assists. Kalmarsund are also performing well in the Swedish league (SSL), where they currently sit in second place, just behind Thorengruppen. An interesting figure on their staff is assistant coach Karen Farnes. A former Norwegian international, she enjoyed a long-playing career across Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland and was part of the Kalmarsund squad when they were promoted back to the SSL in 2022.
This is the second year in a row that the Tatran women’s team has reached the Champions Cup semi-finals. To get here, they had to overcome a difficult quarter-final serie against the Swiss team, Wizards Bern Burgdorf. Tatran won the first match 5-4, and while the Wizards came very close to forcing overtime in the second leg, the match ended in a 2-2 draw. This result was enough for the Czech side to progress.
Tatran have also made an interesting addition to their coaching staff this season, with Jana Christianova joining as the goalkeeper coach. The squad is packed with talent from the Czech national team, including key players such as Michaela Mechlova, Denisa Vyborna, and Barbora Huskova.
