The atmosphere of the morning 3rd place game hyped up over 1,300 fans and helped Vítkovice overcome the Finnish team SB-Pro. Two periods of tight floorball turned into a one-sided matter in the third period. Vítkovice showed bigger hunger for success and deservedly enjoyed ovation at the end. SB-Pro hence returns home with two losses.

The home players started the match very briskly and with less than a minute into the game they found the side of the Finnish net. And it didn’t take them long to please their fans after Dominika Buczek tricked the Finnish defense including the goalie Tiltu Siltanen. Vítkovice moved better and were giving a hard time to the Finnish defenders. And despite Silja Eskelinen tied the score following an inaccurate Příleská’s throw, Zuzana Krzywak sent Vítkovice into the lead again only four minutes later.

In the second period, Vítkovice players showed some indiscipline and were awarded three minor penalties. Ironically, they went into the lead during the first Finnish power-play, but after Vlaďka Maděrová’s penalty the score was level again and the third place match was to be decided in the last period. The referees even had to review one of the Finns’ scoring chances, but the decision was clear – Jörgen Andersson spread out his arms to indicate that no goal was scored.

In the forty-second minute, a deflected ball found its way behind Siltanen’s back, which motivated Vítkovice to further work. The decisive moments came five minutes later – Husková’s power-play goal increased the lead to two goals and when Seevaldová scored the home team’s sixth goal only 54 seconds later, the fans went into raptures and Vítkovice created a decisive lead. Kubečková’s late goal closed the score at 7-3 and the home players could start celebrating the third place at the Champions Cup with their fans.

Best players of the match: Silja Eskelinen (SB-Pro) – Eliška Planková (1. SC TEMPISH Vítkovice)
