The Swedish champions from Storvreta clashed their Czech opponents by ten goals and advanced to the Champions Cup final. The only reason for the home fans to celebrate came late in the match after Josef Rýpar’s goal.

Vítkovice entered the match very well, their active play caused significant trouble to their opponents and they were pretty close to opening the score. But Storvreta players bounced back very quickly and a rebound from the crease sent them into the lead. And after two long-range shots the Scandinavians were suddenly up 3-0. The hyped up first period full of scoring chances and fierce tackles ended with a shot that found the crossbar behind Klintsten’s back.

After the break, the Swedes started the second period like a hurricane and increased their lead with only seven seconds played. Despite the home players managed to get into promising shooting positions, none of their attempts found the back of the net. Despite loud cheering of 2,500 home fans Storvreta kept increasing their lead. During Ondřej Firda’s penalty Marek Bräuer went face to face with the Swedish goalie but missed Klintsten’s net.

Alexander Rudd scored three of the last four Swedish goals and stood out with five points in total. For the first and only time in the match the stadium celebrated with less than three minutes left in the match when Josef Rýpar received a pass from Lukáš Hrubý and with a rocket he ruined Viktor Klintsten’s clean sheet. However, just like their female colleagues, the knights couldn’t reach the final and will fight for the third place tomorrow.

Best players of the match: Alexander Rudd (Storvreta IBK) – Josef Rýpar (1. SC TEMPISH Vítkovice).
