It was a hard-fought match between Poland and Slovakia on Sunday. Both teams played well, and it was with a random shot that the match was decided.

– We are really happy and we are going to celebrate… Haha, I don’t even have words for it, says Justyna Krzywak who scored the game winning goal.

The first period seemed to end goalless for a long time, but with barely two minutes left, the first goal of the match came. Klara Grossova took quick steps from the right wing and scored 0-1 to Slovakia.

In the second period, Poland equalized. After little sister Zuzanna Krzywak made it 1-1, big sister Justyna Krzywak stepped forward and gave the team a 2-1 lead. When all the goals of the period fell, it was 3-3, which gave a dramatic end.

In the third period, both teams created several good scoring chances. The deciding goal came after a long shot from Justyna Krzywak. But Krzywak was not the only match winner for her Poland, because with three minutes Slovakia got a penalty shot. Poland’s goalkeeper Karina Trojan stopped the shot and minutes later Poland got to cheer.

– The effort was there. I cannot say something against that, but unfortunately it was not enough, Slovakias MVP Michaela Sponiarova says after the match.
