We present you a series of short interviews called #NewStarsBorn with media ambassadors!
They talk about their team’s preparations, their goals and more!
Our next guest is an athlete from New Zealand, Kristina Sundin.
What are your goals for the championship?
The goals that the New Zealand team have for the tournament is to play our best game and ultimately place with a higher ranking than previously. Of course with that being said, going on this major journey to the other side of the world, the most important goal for us all is to have the best tournament possible, and have a log of fun doing so!
How does your preparation for the championship look like?
Preparing for the World Cup we have focused majorly on our defensive structure as well as our fitness. Going into the tournament we are aware that we will be one of the underdogs and will be going against countries who have been playing for many more years than us. This is why our endurance, speed, strenght and defense are key to us having a successful tournament.
How would you rate your team preparing fo the championship?
At this point our team is better that it has ever been! We have an amazing group of girls with a positive attitude and a strong spirit. We are all determined to be our very best for this tournament, and all are putting in the hard work to get there.
What comes to your mind when you think about Poland?
When we think about Poland the first word that comes up is obviously excitement. We are a very young team and many of us not had the pleasure to play outside of New Zealand. Saying that we are not only excited just for the tournament, but also for the opportunity to visti, explore and experience the polish culture and we all feel very lucky and privileged to do so.
Good luck New Zealand and see you in Katowice!
