The Group D programme for the 11th World Junior Championship 2021 in Brno started with a match between Poland and Italy. The team from the south of Europe didn’t give their opponents much trouble and Poland won 28:0. Both teams will play Austria in the three-team group.

Poland scored the first goal in the 4th minute and since then, they only increased their lead.  They led 7:0 after the first period, 19:0 after the second and finally won 28:0. The most productive players were Kacper Skura (5 + 2), Bartosz Jachacy (4 + 1), Jan Jaskierski (3 + 2) and captain Nikodem Gawronski (2 + 3).  The goal on 15:0 was confirmed by the referee and after watching the video. Goalkeepers Michal Janusz and Szymon Bryndza (started in 3rd period) became the first goalkeepers of WJC 2021, who kept a clean sheet. Poland will play the third member of the group from Austria on Thursday, Italy will play against them on Friday.
