There are some additional changes of the participating teams for the Men’s U19 WFC and the final match schedule is published. The full schedule can be found here.

As previously announced, the Men’s U19 WFC 2021 will be played with 15 teams but with Hungary participating in place of Russia. The change to entry restrictions for the Czech Republic that came into force on 1st July means that Russia is no longer able to apply for an exemption for entry. The IFF and NFFR have mutually agreed that, unfortunately, due to these restrictions it is not possible for Russia to participate at this time.

Hungary was one of the original teams to be asked about being a replacement team for the event. At the time, the travel restrictions were such that they had advised that it was not possible, but the changes on 1st July meant that all restrictions on entry to Czech Republic for them were removed. They have now accepted the offer of a place in the tournament and will replace Russia in Group C.

— We are very pleased that we are able to present an almost complete tournament. To have 15 teams competing in the current situation is fantastic. We appreciate the extra effort from all the countries involved as well as the local organising committee in Czech Republic. They have worked extremely hard with their event partners to provide accommodation and transport options for the teams, and have in place strong protocols for putting on a safe event for all the participants. We are very excited about the prospect of finally playing an IFF event – the first since February 2020 – said Sarah Mitchell, IFF Event Manager.
