Ella Jyrkinen has been selected as Event Coordinator for the Men´s World Floorball Championships 2020. She will begin in this role on February 3rd, 2020.
32-year-old Ella Jyrkinen holds a master’s degree in sport and health sciences. She is moving into the Event Coordinator’s position from Alma Talent, where she worked as coordinator of expert seminars and training. In the field of sports, Jyrkinen has been involved in the Finnish Olympic Committee and worked as coordinator for the running event Naisten Kymppi. As Event Coordinator for the World Championships, she will act as a contact person for teams and be responsible for practical matters relating to teams. Duties of the role also include tasks relating to sourcing, selecting and training volunteers, responsibility for accreditation, and coordination of ticket sales.
I am expecting a busy year working on the World Championships – the road to the main event in December is going to be intense. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in creating the greatest sports event of the year. My background in organising events provides me with solid proficiencies for the role and I am excited about getting started. A return to working in the field of sports is a great motivator, and this is a fantastic opportunity to do that if there ever was one”, explains Jyrkinen.
The WFC organisation – led by Event Director Hanne Pirkola – is now complete in terms of paid employees.
Our organisation now has four full-time employees. With this team, we will drive the tournament through to completion. With Ella, the team is getting a competent addition who can hold the reigns even in tight situations. It is vital that teams arriving at the tournament have a productive contact person to handle their affairs and to ensure that this year’s competition trip is a success for teams in every respect. Our organisation will also be joined by interns for shorter periods and, of course, hundreds of volunteers without whom we could not deliver the tournament. Recruitment of volunteers will begin later this spring”, says Pirkola.
