The Slovenians have an important result for their group position. They finished the group stage of the Men’s U19 WFC in Brno with a 7:2 win over Belgium. Thanks to the victory, they will go into the play-offs no worse off than the second place in the group.
The end of the first period was the key part of the game that helped the Slovenia to success. Matija Kozuh scored and Luka Podobnik followed shortly after. From then on, Slovenia guarded the result and ran to the bigger advantage in the third period. It gave them a solid result 7:2. The defeat left Belgium in third place in group C, while Slovenia will finish no worse than second.
Nejc Peklaj had an outstanding individual performance for Slovenia, scoring a goal and adding four assists. On the Belgian side, only Maxime Verhamme and Guillaume Morelle were among the scorers.
