In advance, this looked to be a tough match for Lettland who had not yet won a match in this championship. The Czech Republic, on the other hand, tops the group with two out of two wins and wanted to close the group stage with three straight.

The first period went as previously thought. The Czech Republic controlled the game and owned a lot of the ball. 1-0 came after 4 minutes and shortly the second goal came. Before the end of the period, the Czech Republic would extend the lead to 4-0, including two goals from Martina Repkova.

– I think my line played really well today and I’m very thankful for them, and it helps with our confidence, said the MVP of the Czech Republic Martina Repkova after the game.

The second period did look too different from the first. The Czechs controlled the game, scoring two more goals extending their lead to 6-0. Both goals would be scored by Martina Repkova, making it 4 on the day from her stick.

If Latvia wanted to have a chance in this game they had to perform a miracle in the last period. Unfortunately for the Latvian team that would not happen, two minutes in the Czech Republic would add to their lead. Before the game ended Martina Repkova would go on a score one more goal, ending the game with five goals and the Czech Republic with 8, Latvia 0.

– It’s going to be a tough game against Norway in the playoffs, so we have to prepare both mentally and physically, said Latvia’s captain Elīza Elizabete Bērziņa.

MVP Latvia: Jana Filipsone
