USA and Italy both lost their opening games and were eager to get the first win of the tournament. The American Kajsa Krohn played brilliantly throughout the game and scored three goals and got an assist. 

 – Now we are going home to eat, sleep and get ready for our next game against Denmark, said Kajsa Krohn after the final whistle. 

The USA got a good start against Italy, after six minutes they were already up by four goals, two of which were from Michelle Linhart. Italy tried to pressure the American defenders, but when that failed USA managed to score three more times. After the first period, the lead was 7-0. 

In the second period, the lead would grow four more times. The first goal, scored by Kajsa Krohn made it three goals for her on the day. Once again Italy tried to interrupt the play high up in the field, but the Americans played through the press and scored three more times to make it 11-0 heading into the third period. 

The third period would not favor the Italians either. They did not manage to score on the American goalkeepers and would leave the game without a goal. The USA scored another five goals making the end result 16-0. 

–  It was a very tough game for us. We had higher expectations before the game, said an upset Roberta Olshov after the game.
