The game between team USA and team Thailand became a real thriller when team USA went up 5-0  before team Thailand mounted an impressive comeback to 5-5. In the end, however, it was team USA that managed to score the game winning goals and take the victory.

The audience inside IFU Arena was treated to a very exciting game when team Thailand and team USA faced each other in the first game during the fourth day of the WFC 2021. Team USA looked really strong in the first period and went up 5-0. However, team Thailand mounted an impressive comeback and equalized to 5-5 early in the third period.

But it was team USA who managed to score the game winning goal when Selma Johansson scored 7-6 in powerplay. After that team USA also scored another and the final result was 8-6.

– It meant a lot. It was a great pass from Marie, it was a nice feeling to get it in, said Selma Johansson about her goal.

– I think it was a really exciting game. I think both teams just fought and wanted to win. I think our first period were really good but then we relaxed a little bit in the second period and Thailand were really on us. But in the third period we really wanted to win so we all fought together as a team, said Selma Johansson.

Team Thailands Nina Suppa was disappointed after the game in the teams loss.

– We started really bad to be honest. We had the wrong focus but we got it together and in the second period we had the game the whole period. And I think that we had the game the other period too but since they scored the goals and we didn’t… well, that’s it. I think we were the better team for two periods, said Nina Suppa.

MVP for team Thailand was Supasuta Thiptha. MVP for team USA was Marie Häggström.
