Team Poland got off to a great start in the 2021 WFC when they won their opening game against team Latvia. The final result was 6-3 to team Poland.

Both teams came out strong in the first period in IFU Arena, but it was team Poland who got off to the best start when they early in the first period scored two shorthanded goals in quick succession with only nine seconds apart.

However, quickly after team Latvia scored and closed the gap to 2-1. But team Poland again showed their strength and scored a third goal before the first period had ended.

3-1 then became 6-4 before the game concluded and after the game team Polands Karolina Rozmus was happy with her teams performance.

– I was a little bit stressed cause it was my first game. But then I regained confidence. I think that the first goals were the most important and regaining confidence after the start was the key moment, said Karolina Rozmus.

Even though team Latvia opened the WFC 2021 with a loss Anna Ankudinova was hopeful that the team could bounce back in the next game.

– I think that this wasn’t the best we could do, I think we could do better. It wasn’t that great so hopefully the next games will go better than this one, said Anna Ankudinova after the game.
