Team Norway has advanced to the quarterfinals in the WFC 2021, but the game against Latvia turned out be a real thriller when both teams fought hard in the IFU Arena.

Team Latvia got off to a flying start against team Norway when Anna Ankudinova scored the games first goal after only 25 seconds. However, after that team Norway took over and scored five goals before the first period ended.

In the second period team Norway continued attacking and scored two goals in rapid succession before team Latvia managed to score their second goal of the day. Quickly thereafter team Latvia closed the gap even further when Julija Rozite hit the net with an impressive shot which forced team Norway to use their timeout.

In the third period team Latvia continued to press high against team Norway and closed the gap several times with a couple of beautiful shots. In the end, however, team Norway managed to grasp the win with the final result reading 8-6. Team Norway therefore advances to the quarterfinals and will face team Sweden on Thursday.

– I think we did a good match and it was really good that we won and that we did a good game, said Tone Einstulen after the game.

Team Latvias Julija Rozite was disappointed after the game and especially the teams first period.

– This game wasn’t good for us. I think we lost too many goals in the first period and that was the problem. It’s hard to get back from so many goals, that was the problem, said Julija Rozite.
