Slovakia created several good scoring chances in the match, but unfortunately, they had a hard time putting the ball in the net. Switzerland, on the other hand, were clinical in their finishes and won deservedly.

Switzerland took the lead after just eight minutes. A minute later, Michelle Wiki could easily make it 2-0 to Switzerland after a dazzling passing play. In the middle of the period, Slovakia was awarded a penalty. Experienced Monika Schmid stepped into the goal for Switzerland and deflected the penalty. In total, Switzerland won the first period 3-0.

– The first period was really good from our side. We created a lot of chances, but we didn’t score so we weren’t so efficient, says Slovakian Laura Chupekova.

In the second period, Slovakia started to move their team forward and it succeeded when Laura Chupekova scored. Unfortunately for Slovakia, Switzerland also scored, and after two periods played the score was 8-1.

In the third period, Switzerland continued to score goals and didn’t concede, which gave the result 12-1.

Friday night’s result means that Switzerland will face Sweden in the semifinals. Slovakia on the other hand will have to face Norway to have the chance to place in fifth place in the tournament.
