Before Monday night’s clash, both teams had each won earlier in the group stage. This meant that this match was deciding whether you finish 2nd or 3rd in the group.

It was Switzerland who would take command first, after 3 minutes 15 seconds they took the lead through Corin Ruttman, a lead that would not last long. Only 18 seconds later, the Polish Malwina Zagorska was able to equalize. Switzerland would score 2 more goals before the period was over.

In the second period, Poland started to work their way into the match and 3 minutes into that period the score was reduced to 2-3, a result that seemed to stand the period out. But with 40 seconds left of the period, the Uppsala acquaintance Michelle Wiki was able to give Switzerland a 4-2 lead into the third period.

Early in the third period, Michelle Wiki scored another goal, her third in the match and sixth overall in the tournament. Shortly afterward, the lead was extended once more, 6-2. Poland tried to gnaw their way into the match but the Swiss goalkeeper Monika Schmid stopped everything. The match ended 6-2 to Switzerland. – It was a tough match and we had to work hard to score goals, but we won in the end and that is the main thing, said Corin Ruttiman.

Poland will play against NFFR in the next match that will decide whether they get into the quarterfinals or not. – I do not think it will be an easy match, but we will give 100% and I believe in my team, said Malwina Zagorska.
