Both Singapore and the NFFR lost their first games of the tournament, which means that both had to win if they wanted a chance to get into the playoffs.

–  Our team spirit was very high today and everyone was cheering on each other and we knew what we needed to do in order to win the game, said Angel Model of Singapore after the final whistle.

The first period would favor the NFFR. After 5 minutes they scored their first goal and shortly after the second followed. However, Singapore would be the ones closing out the scoring in the first period, making it 1-2.

As the first half of the second period was played, no team had a real chance of a goal. It was only when NFFR took a penalty that Singapore could equalize to 2-2. With that goal, Singapore got a second breath and managed to score twice more. But this time NFFR would close out the period with another goal making it 4-3 to Singapore.

The third period would be a real nailbiter. NFFR equalized to 4-4 and with one minute left scored what looked to be the deciding goal to 5-4. But the Singaporeans were not done, they pulled their goalie making them play 6 against 5, and with four seconds left they managed to score the last goal to make the end result 5-5.

 – Unfortunately, it was only one goal, but I will try to score more in the next game, said NFFR’s Mariia Kitaeva.
