NFFR led 3-0 before Poland woke up. But once the team got started, there was nothing that could stop Maja Helman and her Poland.

The first period was tight, and the first goal came in an unfortunate situation for Poland. 2-0 came through Elizaveta Nadeeva and it was the last goal to fall in the first period.

The second period was to be won by Poland, but first it was NFFR who extended their lead to 3-0. After that, the match center of attention was Poland’s MVP, 15-year-old Maja Helman. Helman decreased the deficit to 3-1 with a nice penalty. Before the end of the period, Poland also managed to make it 3-2.

The third period was all about Poland. All five goals of the period were scored by the team, which gave the result 7-3.

– Before the third period we said we had to take control and play. We said that we had to keep punshing, says Poland’s Maja Helman.

Poland’s win means that the team will face Finland in the quarterfinals while NFFR will have to settle with Germany for the chance to play for 9th place.

NFFR’s Elizaveta Nadeeva knows what’s needed for her team on thursday.
