The winner of the match between Denmark and Poland will face the winner from Norway – Slovakia for fifth place. The start was tough and even, but in the second period, Poland made a move, many thanks to two sisters.
In the first period, the match wavered back and forth. The period offered five goals but only two goal scorers, Poland’s Malwina Zagorska and Denmark’s Frida Mainz Olsson. It was Zagorska who would give Poland the lead after five minutes and three minutes later Mainz Olsson was able to equalize. Poland regained the lead before Denmark equalized. With another goal by Denmark, they took the lead and Mainz Olsson had already scored a hat trick.
– We got a good start to the match and we were very focused on the task today, everything went smoothly and according to plan, Denmark’s goalkeeper Mette Thorsager Jensen says about the first period.
Poland got a great start to the second period, already after one minute, 15-year-old super talent Maja Hellman equalized to 3-3. With an equal result, it was time for the Polish sisters Zuzanna Kryzwak and Justyna Kryzwak to introduce themselves. Three goals by Zuzanna and all three goals assisted by Sister Justyna. Before the end of the period, Justyna would also be allowed to score a goal, but this time Zuzanna was not involved. Five goals by Poland in the second period and zero by Denmark meant 3-7 before the third.
– In the second period we started playing with speed and did not let the Danish players take any shots and then it went better, says three-goal shooter Zuzanna Kryzwak after the match.
The third period was to be uneventful, Denmark tried to get closer and they did reduce the score to 4-7 through Emma Vistisen, but they never got closer.
