In the last World Championship, Finland and the Czech Republic met in the bronze match. After Saturday’s exciting match, the Czech Republic once again will fight for the bronze, while Finland will settle with Sweden for the gold.

– We need to start really well. They want to press high and be the team that has the possession. We need to do good and some easy things in the beginning to get a good feeling and then score some goals, says Veera Kauppi before the final.

Finland was the favorite to advance to the final, and the team also took the lead early through Oona Kauppi. However, the Czech Republic both equalized and took over the lead. But if Oona scores a goal, the twin sister Veera does not want to be worse, so of course the Finn put it 2-2. However, the Finnish joy was short-lived as the Czech Republic quickly regained the lead with 3-2.

Finland won the middle period. Despite a lot of goal chances, it was only Veera Kauppi who, once again managed to find the net when she made it 3-3.

The third period was dramatic, Finland took the lead only to see the Czech Republic equalize. But again, the Kauppi sisters stepped forward. With a pass from Veera, Oona Kauppi stepped forward and roofed the a ball with a real hard shot. A goal that would be the last of the match.

The results mean that Finland will meet the host nation Sweden in the final on Sunday. The Czech Republic, on the other hand, will face Switzerland in the bronze medal match.
