After a well-played match, Latvia was able to beat the United States relatively easily. A strong start to the match never gave the Americans a chance.

Latvia won the first period 4-0. Zane Ziedone made it 1-0 after just over six minutes and after that goal, the match was all about the Latvian players and their offensive forces.

In the second period, Latvia continued to push forward. In total, the team scored five goals without dropping anything backwards. Latvia’s Laura Gaugere assisted on two goals, and she says the following about the match.

– We won and are very happy about it. We score many goals and several girls got to score their first goal, so I am happy and proud of the team.

In the third period, the USA changed goalkeeper, but neither could Cassandra Troy stop the Latvian onslaught. In total, Latvia scored four goals in the period, which gave the result 13-0.

Despite the loss, USA’s MVP, Gabriella Lindström is satisfied with the team’s attitude.

– It was a tough match for us. But I’m happy that we really fought for our team and that we really did our best.

Latvia’s victory means that the team will play for 9th place. There, the team will meet the winner of the match NFFR – Germany. The United States, on the other hand, will face the loser in a match for 11th place in the World Cup.

MVP Latvia: Madlena Rozite
