Stick with it is IFF‘s responsibility program, which aims to recycle as much floorball equipment as possible. The initiative comes from the organizers of the World Floorball Championships (WFC) 2020 and Equal Opportunity campaign in cooperation with the Finnish Floorball Federation, tournament partners such as UNIHOC, and Hope ry.

– Our goal was to put sustainability into practice by developing the game equipment recycling concept, explains Tero Kalsta, IFF Sales Coordinator. The intention is to instill the recycling ideology in the floorball community. Many warehouses are filled with unnecessary hobby equipment that could be taken in good use elsewhere.

People can bring for example, sticks, balls, drinking bottles, goalie’s equipment and bibs into donation boxes. Broken hobby equipment will also be warmly welcomed. Efforts are being made to repair them if possible and, for example, broken blades will be recycled.

Equipment donation boxes are sponsored by global cardboard manufacturer DS Smith. They can be found in Helsinki region during the Men’s Floorball World Championships 2020 at the Helsinki Ice Hall, Hartwall Arena, Arena Center, Campo Center, Esport Arena and Mosahalli.

– From previous games, equipment has been delivered to, for example, Kazakhstan and Swedish hobby equipment lending organisations, where it is possible to borrow hobby equipment when one cannot obtain own gear. Equipment collected during the Finnish games are intended to be delivered to emerging markets, such as Latin America, Africa or smaller Asian countries. We are working to ensure that in the future we can offer the possibility of recycling hobby equipment on a permanent basis. We hope that everyone who has some extra equipment will eagerly donate them in good use, Tero Kalsta encourages.
