Men’s World Floorball Championship tournament starts next week on December 3rd and the covid pass will be in use at the event. The EU’s Digital Covid Certificate will be checked at all entrances at Helsinki Ice Hall and Hartwall Arena.
The Covid pass couldn’t be introduced earlier as there were no restrictions in force that would have had effect on the event. According to the Government’s decision on November 26th there will be new restrictions on restaurants due to the COVID-19 pandemic that will also affect the tournament venues. Service providers that require all customers to present Covid pass are exempt from these new restrictions. People aged 16 and over are required to present a COVID-19 passport.
- The situation is now more clear and the Covid pass allows us to make the event more secure when it comes to health security. As a local organizing committee, it takes us some extra planning in the upcoming days but also the spectator needs to prepared in advance when entering the world championship tournament, summarizes Pekka Ilmivalta, the Executive director of the Finnish Floorball Federation.
In cooperation towards a health secure event: avoid crowds, use a mask
Arrival at Helsinki Ice Hall is possible one hour before the start of the first match of the day. On the final weekend at Hartwall Arena, the doors will open an hour and a half before the start of the first match. By arriving on time, it is possible to reduce the queuing and possible congestion caused by Covid pass and ticket control. In addition, there are several entrances available for the spectators.
Spectators are recommended to wear a face mask at WFC 2020. It is requirement for all staff members and volunteers to wear a face mask at the venues during the whole tournament. In addition to face mask recommendation, spectators are encouraged to take care of good hand hygiene, and many hand sanitizers are available at the entrances and service points.
– We work closely with the arena staff, restaurant services and health authorities as well as other event organizers. We follow closely when Covid pass is introduced at Hartwall Arena during the weekend when Jokerit has the next KHL-match, says the WFC 2020 Event Director Hanne Pirkola.

ANTIGEN TEST FOR RECEIVING AN EU DIGITAL COVID CERTIFICATE
Mehiläinen can grant an EU Digital Covid Certificate (EUDCC) for visitors arriving from countries whose national COVID-19 certificate is not accepted as equivalent to the EU Digital Covid Certificate against a negative antigen test result.
You can take the test in Mehiläinen Messukeskus Drive -In, located in Pasila on an appointment-free basis. You can visit the station any time during the opening hours: 7:30-15:00 on Mon-Fri, 8:00-15:00 on Sat and 9:00-15:00 on Sun. Please inform the Mehiläinen staff you will need the EU Certificate and also please provide an e-mail address. The secured link to the Certificate will be sent to you by e-mail.
The price for the test is 165€ – only credit card payment accepted. Price includes the EU Certificate.
Please make sure you allow enough time for the test results to be ready and the certificate to be sent. Estimate is about 2 hours total, but could take up to one day
