Thursday’s programme of the World Junior Championship in Brno started with the Group B match between Switzerland and Germany. Players from Switzerland didn’t hesitate and defeated their opponent 9:1. If Sweden beats Denmark in the afternoon, Switzerland and Sweden will advance to the semi-finals.

Switzerland was the better team against Germany from the start of the match. But it was an even battle for a long time with great saves from goalkeepers Henrik von Wangenheim (Germany) and Janis Schwarz (Switzerland). The game was decided early in the third period when the Swiss scored three goals in 65 seconds. Claudio Schmid scored four times in the match. Switzerland has two wins after two games and will play Sweden on Friday. It’s likely to be a battle for first place in the group.
