Vítkovice went into a two-goal lead in the first period, but failed bring the game to a successful end. The Swedes managed to level the score before the second intermission and controlled the last twenty minutes. So, it’s Täby FC advancing to the final where they will meet Kloten, while Vítkovice will face SB-Pro of Finland in the 3rd place match.
Vítkovice were cheered on by 1,600 fans, who created electrifying atmosphere throughout the sixty minutes. The home players didn’t start badly at all and following a quick attack they went into the lead with Vlaďka Maděrová’s goal. Just four minutes later, Dominika Buczek added the second with a deke against the Swedish goalie. The pace of the semifinal between Vítkovice and Täby was fast, the fans saw many interesting plays, tackles as well as scoring opportunities.
In the second period, the Swedes had their first power-play opportunity and they managed to tie the score at 2-2. Both teams fought for every inch of the court and didn’t want to make a mistake that would decide about the future course of the match. In the 50th minute Täby went into the lead for the first time and turned the score in their favor with two quick goals. A glimmer of hope for Vítkovice came with Michaela Kubečková’s goal, but Ranja Varli sealed the Swedish champions’ win with an empty netter.
Not even a power-play or pulling of their goalie helped the home team late in the match, so they will challenge the Finnish team of SB-Pro in the Sunday’s third place match. Täby will fight for the triumph against Kloten from Switzerland.
