The Ukraine Open took place in Lviv from the 6th to the 9th of June, demonstrating the resilience and showing the passion of the Ukrainian floorball community. Despite the numerous challenges faced over the years, including upheavals, revolutions, war, and the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukraine Open has been organised annually since 2011, with the only exception being in 2020. At its peak, the tournament hosted over 80 teams from 9 countries.
This year, more than 20 teams participated across three categories: U-13, U-15, and Men. The competition was fierce, especially in the Men’s category, which saw Storm from Ternopil clinch the title by defeating the home team, Lemberg, in a thrilling final with the score 7-5. The shared third place was awarded to Alliance from Ternopil and Chosen from Zhdenijevo. Notably, the U19 men’s national team also competed, using the tournament to prepare for the upcoming U19 WFC qualifications scheduled from the 4th to the 8th of September 2024.
An international touch was added to this year’s event by a team from Latvia, Kolektïvs Skujina, contributing to the international atmosphere and showing solidarity with Ukraine.
Overall, the Ukraine Open 2024 was a success, filled with positive energy. We look forward to the next year as we hope to see even more teams joining, and continuing to renewal of floorball in Ukraine. For a comprehensive look at all the playoff games, please visit the tournament’s Youtube channel.
