For the past 8 years, the IOC has been selecting impressive sustainability efforts by the Olympic Movement. Floorball has now been featured in two selections with the IFF Stick with it! campaign (2019) and Floorball’s Development Towards Sustainability (2022). For the 2023 edition twelve new IOC case studies were published out which two were floorball sustainability projects.

One of them is the hugely successful Green Goal initiative as part of the Men’s World Floorball Championships 2022 in Switzerland. The initiative has set the bar high for major floorball events and the World Floorball Championships 2024 will build on its legacy.

The second selected case study is originally developed by the Swedish Floorball Federation but since 2019 also available for the larger floorball community when it was also launched in English. It is the Fifty/Fifty gender equality education programme, which will also be a part of the sustainability policy of the Men’s World Floorball Championships 2024 later this year in Malmö, Sweden.

The education programme has sparked interest also among other sports and their governing bodies. Further, some sponsor companies have even adopted it to their own sustainability work. You can read more about or register to Fifty/Fifty here.

The IFF staff will also be taking the Fifty/Fifty course in the coming weeks and the IFF Central Board has this planned as part of their annual agenda for 2024.
