On June 25, in the city of Lviv, the Ukraine floorball federation (UFF) and local club Lemberg organised a tournament-festival titled Lemberg Street Floorball 3×3.
During the event, there was also a fair of Ukrainian products, food and drinks were sold, a DJ was playing music and graffiti artists produced some artworks.
The tournament/festival was co organised by the Ukrainian floorball federation and local club Lemberg who helped with setting up the two small sized rinks on the outdoor street sport area.
The tournament itself, even with the long absence of floorball in Ukraine and 1 day length, managed to attract about 200 players from 7 cities across the country!
In total 32 teams in 6 age categories (Men’s pro, Amateurs, U-15, U-13, U-11, U-9) competed!
It was a very important event in the city of Lviv and showed that even in tough times floorball will continue to be played even in a different format and allowed many to play their favourite game once again.
The last game, the final, ended with 15 seconds to go as air raid sirens began to sound. A reminder yet again that in all areas of Ukraine, many still need to remain vigilant and have back up plans in place for any outdoor event or activity.
On July 30 and 31, there will again be another street floorball event. This time it will be for 2 days and hopefully will be even bigger than the June event!
